Living in Halls of Residence

There
are just over 400 places in halls on the main
campus, minutes away from teaching areas, the
library and most of the eating facilities. |

All
halls are mixed accommodation, and most are
non-smoking, but some halls are available for students who smoke. |

Every
hall has a key card security access system in addition to the
individual room lock. |

The
fee for students living on campus includes a catering allowance
equivalent to 10 meals per week (excluding holiday periods) in the
Writz Restaurant or the Watering Hole. Most students tend to have
two meals a day, but you can eat at any time during the week and
at weekends. |
Facilities

All halls are furnished and centrally heated, with
kitchen/common room areas, but washroom facilities vary from one
hall to another. |

The kitchens consist of a hot plate, microwave
cooker, fridge, toaster and electric kettle. Students will need to
bring their own crockery, saucepans etc. |

No bedding is supplied, but it can be hired for a
small charge. |
Accommodation Policy
GENERAL

The Accommodation Office aims to help all students
secure the accommodation of their choice, within the limits of

Students living within a 25 mile radius of the
College will not be eligible for a room during the initial

After 1st September, any room still available will be
allocated on a ‘first come – first served’ basis. |

All places in hall must be contracted for the
residential session (39 weeks), except where a Post Graduate
programme at Writtle is for a shorter period. |
