The Economics and Finance Concentration prepares students for careers in economic research, banking, financial services, and consulting. It develops an understanding of the ‘economic’ behavior of the individual, the market and the industry. Students gain an understanding of the pivotal role of price mechanism; global economic systems and policies that influence government policies. The finance courses build an understanding of financial principles and concepts such as time value of money, cost of capital, investment decisions criteria, maximizing firm value and investment criteria. Students also study the roles and functions of financial markets, covering a broad base of financial markets, instruments and institutions.

The Management Concentration prepares students for careers in managing people, processes and organizations. Managers need to understand how business works in today’s fast moving global economy. The concepts in management include principles of organization and its structure, leadership, motivation and rewards, decision-making, job satisfaction, effective corporate communications and the impact of demographic diversity on organizations. Students develop critical thinking and communications skills and benefit from the broad-based education to survive in today’s competitive market place.
Former students are working in a wide variety of sectors within international business and management. This concentration is an excellent preparation for an MBA degree.
