Noted on program page
Computer Labs and Internet Access: Students in Certificate and Ten-Week English programs have free access to two fully connected computer labs (50 stations) at UCSD Extension.  Preference for computer lab use is given to class-related work.  All other programs: no access to Extension computer labs, but we will provide you with information about computers available elsewhere on campus.

Library Card: You can use the campus libraries without charge.  To borrow books, however, you must buy a Library Card:  approximately $15.00 for three months.

Medical Insurance: Medical insurance is required for all students. Students are not required to purchase UCSD’s insurance as long as the provide proof of a policy of their own which will cover both routine and urgent healthcare in the US for the entire duration of studies.

Students with their own insurance must send proof of it in English to UCSD Extension International Student Services at registration before the first day of the program; otherwise they will be automatically charged for UCSD’s insurance OR they will not be allowed to attend classes until they provide a copy of proof of coverage in English.

Coverage must be comprehensive, it must be portable and have high coverage limits, and it must clearly show the dates of coverage to prove that the student is covered for the full duration of the program study dates.

Programs shorter than 4 weeks:  $35 per week

Summer Session (5 wks):  $175
ELI 10-week: $420

Certificate programs:
- 1 quarter: $490
- 2 quarters: $910

Registration completion before program start-date

Here is a list of all registration items which we recommend that the student must complete 30 or more days before the first day of the program start-date in order to avoid delays which might complicate the student’s registration and program attendance:

1. Payment of full tuition (Please see the next page for payment procedures.)

2. Payment of International Student Service (ISS) fee

3. Proof of medical insurance coverage in English, clearly showing the dates of
coverage, OR payment for UCSD student medical insurance

4. Payment for UCSD ID card (optional fee of $15)

Following is a list of required and items which the student will complete on registration day after he or she arrives at UCSD:

4. Completion of address card to report local San Diego address

5. Submission of form I-20 and I-94 card stamped at the U.S. port of entry

Do continuing students need to register again for their next program?

Yes, all continuing students must go to the International Student Services office located at UCSD Extension Building E before the last week of their program in order to confirm all required registration items for the following program.

There are no exceptions to this registration requirement. No matter what the student’s enrollment or sponsorship status is, he or she must register at the end of one program session in order to continue into the next program session.

Students with incomplete registrations (payments, medical insurance, immigration document check, submission/confirmation of local address) cannot attend classes and they cannot receive their UCSD Extension student identification number (ID) cards. All registration items must be completed and confirmed in order for new and continuing students to begin their programs.
