This advanced program focuses on the language
of medicine in English, both spoken and written. It is designed to help
you master specific medical vocabulary and idioms, and improve your
ability to communicate in English.

This program makes the maximum use of the fact that San
Diego in general, and UCSD in particular, is a major center for medical
research and development in health care. There are four major hospitals
on or immediately next to the UCSD campus, and UCSD has an excellent
medical school. As a result, this course features expert guest speakers
and may include site visits to UCSD's Medical Center-Hillcrest, which
has a Level 1 Trauma Center, and UCSD's state-of-the-art Thornton
Hospital (photo).
